Birth Junkies

Come join us to learn, share, and support each other as doulas and birth professionals.  This support group is for any and all birth workers, who support women prenatally and postpartum, to come together

We meet on the 1st Thursday of every month from 7-9 pm. 

Birth Chat

Are you pregnant or have you recently given birth?  Join us for birth chat and support each other through the prenatal and postpartum period.  Ask questions, share your birth story, and help other families learn through community.

Placenta 101 & Encapsulation

Learn about the history, anatomy, & functions of the amazing placenta, as well as the benefits of encapsulation. See what all the placenta does & has to offer postpartum for soon to be moms.  This class is taught by Certified Placenta Encapsulation Specialist Emma Whitlock.  She is a certified birth doula and home birth midwife assistant, who specializes in placenta health and care.

Peanut Ball Uses in Labor

These classes are taught by Certified Peanut Ball Instructor, Emma Whitlock.  She focuses on the many uses of the peanut ball for natural and medicated birth, as well as for in home use and hospital use.  Emma is also a certified birth doula, certified placenta encapsulation specialist, home birth midwife assistant, 

Professionals Class

Learn about the peanut ball, how to use it, & its great benefits during labor. This workshop will cover positions to use the peanut ball at home or in the hospital, especially to help with an epidural.

The Safety of Home Birth 

Are you interested in having a home birth, but not quite sure what that really means?  Are  you unsure about the safety and the protocols of having your baby at home?  Join home birth midwife. Rosie Messina ,as she goes over all the ins and outs of having a safe home birth, answers questions, and educates you on all your options.

This class is free, but requires registration.

These classes are taught by Lisa Falkenstein.  Lisa is a certified lactation counselor (CLC) and a certified postpartum doula (CPD) that has served the community for over 10 years. She brings years of experience working hands on with breastfeeding & postpartum families.  Many of the families she serves, transition back to work while maintaining their breastfeeding relationship.


Getting the Right Start

This 1.5-2 hour class  is designed for the expectant mother and their partner and is best attended around 35-36 weeks during your pregnancy.


It covers breast anatomy, nipple evaluation, positioning and latch-on, evaluating a feeding, sore nipples, engorgement, nipple confusion and much more. It is designed to empower you and give you multiple resources to use throughout your breastfeeding journey.

The Employed

Breastfeeding Mother

This 1 hour class is designed for those moms who will be going back to work while breastfeeding.  This class is best to attend around 35-36 weeks during your pregnancy.  There is a half hour question and answer session following the class.

“How am I going to keep up breastfeeding and work?” This is a question working moms face every day and it seems overwhelming. This class describes how to successfully combine working and breastfeeding. Includes how to select a breast pump and breast milk storage. You will leave empowered and with solid resources.

Fertility, Pregnancy, Nutrition, & Health

These classes are taught by Aubrey Phelps  who is a registered functional nutritionist specializing in perinatal and pediatric nutrition. She believes in a holistic approach to health, focusing on all aspects of health and wellness. Aubrey works to find the root causes of imbalance and then craft a unique plan, specific to the needs, goals, and imbalances of her client. Her passion is helping women re-establish balance, being a resource, and providing a village for her clients. Aubrey is also a momma to three little ones earth-side and three angels she has yet to meet.

Optimizing Your Fertility 

Trying to conceive can be stressful in the best of circumstances.  In this class we will discuss the different modifiable factors that influence fertility and can help support a healthy pregnancy and baby.  The focus will be on nutrition and lifestyle considerations, like key nutrients for egg and sperm health, as well as timing to optimize your chances for success.  This class id ideal for those trying to conceive, suffering from infertility or secondary infertility, recurrent miscarriage, and those preparing for IVF or other fertility treatments.

Radiant Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a time of great joy and often great anxiety! In this class, you will learn how to best support your growing little one, as well as your own changing body. Using nutrition and lifestyle changes, you will discover ways to help reduce the common discomforts of pregnancy, nourish your body and baby, and prepare for labor, delivery, and beyond. This class will also focus on changes you can make to help mitigate your risk for complications, including gestational diabetes and preeclampsia. This class is ideal for the first and second trimester.

Postpartum:  Planning, Nutrition & Health

Postpartum Planning & Newborn Care Consultation 

Our culture spends quite a bit of time planning for pregnancy and birth, but not the postpartum period.  What happens once baby arrives?  Having a plan is more important now that ever!  With the uncertainty of COVID, feeling empowered and prepared for your journey to parenthood is crucial.

This class and consultation are hosted by certified postpartum doula (CPD), newborn care specialist, pediatric sleep consultant, as well as certified lactation counselor (CLC), Lisa Falkenstein.  Lisa has a passion for empowering families during their transition into parenthood.  She has served the community for over 10 years, with hands on experience in breastfeeding and specializes in all things postpartum.  She also teaches our breastfeeding classes.  

Postpartum planning ensures that you and your family have a plan as to how your needs and wants will be accomplished in the postpartum period.  Lisa helps to prepare you for postpartum healing, physical and emotional issues, caring for a newborn, newborn sleep, household management, and more.

Topics covered are:

-Physical and emotional recovery

-Newborn care and sleep

-Breastfeeding and formula guidance

-Postpartum and newborn supply lists

-Common postpartum issues

-COVID with a newborn

The consultation includes a 34 page Postpartum and Newborn Care Planning workbook,

The Sleep Guide for 0-4 months, as well as a one hour virtual consult.  The consult will be lead by Lisa, as she goes over the workbooks and answers specific questions for your unique postpartum needs.

This particular class is done individually.  Once registered, Lisa will reach out to make arrangements.

Replenished Postpartum 

Once baby comes, the focus often shifts from mom to the new baby. Unfortunately, this can lead to a lot of negative effects on mom's health, including depletion, postpartum mood disorders, breastfeeding issues, and difficulty bonding with baby. The transition into motherhood is a challenging one, even when adequately nourished and rested. This class will focus on ensuring you are doing what you can to set yourself for a healthy, supported postpartum period, as well as discuss the nutrition and lifestyle considerations essential for helping mom recover from birth while caring for baby. This class is ideal in the third trimester or newly postpartum.

Childbirth Class: Hospital, Home, & Preparing with Confidence

This all day, jam-packed class is perfect for those wanting to prepare for childbirth, no matter what your birth choices.


This class is taught by DONA trained doula and ICEA trained childbirth educator, Sara Clark. Sara has a huge passion for teaching and educating families. She believes in support and education during pregnancy, to promote empowerment before, during, and after birth. She truly believes that birth has its own authority and each baby has their own journey to come earth side. Being educated in the many birthing options is key in creating a positive birth .


  Whether you are birthing at home or a hospital, wanting to go natural or considering pain relief, this class is all about education and options.  It is designed to educate you in physiological birth, so you can understand how and why a woman's body goes through certain stages in labor, as well as give you the knowledge and power of all your options during childbirth. This independent, out of hospital class will help you to be confident in your ability to birth, ask questions about your care, and to be empowered.

Fetal development
Stages of labor
Birth desires
Medical procedures/terminology
Alternatives to interventions
Pain relief options
Cesarean birth options
Comfort measures and tips for coping with early/active labor
